Favorite victory at the start: Defending champion Alba Berlin and Bayern Munich have successfully started the BBL playoffs. The main round winner from Berlin clearly won 114: 89 (61:45) on Friday evening in the first quarter-final game against Brose Bamberg and takes the lead 1-0 in the best-of-five series. Bavaria beat his “fear opponent” Niners Chemnitz clearly with 77:53 (36:31).
Johannes Thiemann (here in the successfully started interview) was the best thrower of the Berliner with 19 points. The second meeting with Bamberg will take place again in Berlin on Sunday (6 p.m.). “I’m happy about the victory,” said Thiemann after the game at magenasport: “It was an offensive game. We can defensively play that even more cleverly.”
In Munich, game two will also continue on Sunday (8.30 p.m.). Chemnitz had won both the two duels in the main round and in the trophy against Bayern.
The Telekom Baskets Bonn, however, celebrated a hard -won opening win. Thanks to a last minute goal after extra time, the Rhinelanders defeated the Hamburg Towers with 100: 98 (91:91, 41:42) and go to the second duel on Sunday (3 p.m.). Bonn’s Parker Jackson-Cartwright was an outstanding man with 36 points.
